Please note that the offerings for continuing education and on-site education are created custom for you at the time of enrollment.  Please contact us for more details on these educational tracks.

Class offerings for the fall educational are split into three groups: COPE, ABO, and Technical Info.  While we have developed three different tracts to accommodate as many needs as possible, it is not unusual to move from one track to another in an effort to fulfill continuing education credit requirements or to attend a class that is more interesting or relevant than the one available at that time within a chosen track.  The enrollment form available here will help you customize you class schedule to meet your needs.  All we ask is that everyone attends the keynote class which is the first class of the day and encompasses all three tracks.

Registration is now open for the Fall Educational.  You can register through the following link:

Pharmacology & Optometrist Track:

101 - Differentiation In Today's Modern Optical Marketplace [1 COPE and ABO Credit]
Speaker: Mike Della Pesca
9:30am-10:30am
Retail chains and mass merchandisers are commanding a bigger slice of the market each year. Patients visit less frequently, and when they do, some take their eyeglass prescriptions elsewhere. Your practice isn't growing as fast as you'd like, and dispensary sales are less than stellar. How can you, as an independent practitioner, compete with this growth and succeed in an increasingly competitive environment?

102 – Ocular Pharmacology Update [2 COPE-PH Credits]
Speaker: Edward Paul, O.D.
10:45am-11:45am, 12:45pm-1:45pm
This course will provide a review and update on the pharmacological management of common occular diseases.

103 – The Role of Nutrition in Eye Care [2 COPE-OP Credits]
Speaker: Edward Paul, O.D.
2:15pm-3;15pm, 3:45pm-4:45pm
The latest science and evidence based information regarding ocular nutrition. This course will educate participants on the utilization of nutrional medicine in the prevention, treatment, and management of ocular disease.

Optician Track:

201 – Making Electronic Health Record Decisions [1 COPE and 1 ABO Credit]
Speaker: Joyce Ardrey, CPC
9:30am-10:30am
So many choices! This course gives the most up-to-date information resulting from the passage of ARRA and HITECH and other federal agency rules and regulations. The guidance is still being written. Meeting the requirements in order to receive incentive dollars doesn't have to be a daunting task but it will require that the physician engage in the processes.

202 – Sunlight, Sun Lenses and Your Eyes [1 ABO Credit]
Speaker: Mike Della Pesca
10:45-11:45am
In order to be a competent dispenser of quality sunglasses, you must be able to discuss and answer questions intelligently dealing with visual hazards and physical hazards to the eye. After all, too much visible light and harmful ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is damaging to people of all ages.. This course assists you with an added knowledge and understanding of light and the benefits of selective absorption lenses. After you combine your product knowledge with some market knowledge you should then feel more confident and be motivated to tell your patients all about, "Sunlight and Your Eyes".

203 –One Frame, Two Frame, Red Frame, Blue Frame [1 ABO Credit]
Speaker: Dr. Robert Reed
12:45-1:45pm
The Cat In The Hat does optical! Frame board management is more critical now than ever. Understanding financial implications, determining the mixture of frames to display, and learning how to secure inventory from shrinkage will be discussed. Methods of inventory control from individualized to commercially available systems, including bar coding technologies, will be reviewed. A reference source of systems is provided as well as a plan to incorporate this information into the office immediately.

204 - Understanding & Marketing Digital Lenses to Your Patients
[1 ABO & 1 COPE]

Speaker: Samantha Toth
2:15pm-3:15pm
The variety of new, digital lenses available has created confusion not only for patients, but for eye care professionals as well. A strong understanding of the minute differences between the various technologies and how they benefit the patient is important. In addition, the ability to communicate these benefits and market digital lens products to consumers in a way that is not overwhelming requires skill. This course is designed to provide an in-depth background on digital lens technologies and strategies to help eye care professionals be successful recommending them to their patients.

205 – Does Your Frame Room Reflect Your Vision? [1 ABO credit]
Speaker: Deb Klug
3:45pm-4:45pm
This course gives pointers and examples to add interest and style to improve an office frame room environment for patients and staff. Offices will be connected to resources to improve the look of office frame rooms and window displays on any budget. Examples will be shared as well as solid decorating basics and ideas.
